Invent It! sessions run on a half termly basis, every Monday, with each half term session booked as a single block at £15 per session. Please enquire directly about one-off Trial Sessions.
Each session lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes and take place at Balcarras School on a Monday with no general public access. Sessions are led by me with support from the rest of the Invent It! team to get a maximum 1:8 ratio. DBS and insurance details available on request.
Each session is structured with:
Warming up: this will work on basic problem solving and could be anything from maths to lego!
Introducing: What we are doing, how does it work and who Invented It! The science behind the fun.
Inventing: The making, coding, designing. Breaking, fixing, breaking again
All materials will be provided and each child will just need their imagination and creativity!

This course is designed to explore STEM skills by learning about Sound through live demonstration and hands on practical tasks. We will explore the physics of sound, how it works and also how we can manipulate it to suit our needs. We will learn about the types of electricity, basic electronic circuits and components and use this to create our own music, games and some of our own inventions.

Let there be light! Join us for the 2nd Spring term and an illuminating look at light. What is it? Where does it come from? What is your favourite type? and What do you mean I can't always see it!
All these questions and more will be answered as we explore light, it's properties and how we can harness it to make some blindingly good inventions!

Repel that after school boredom and explore the fascinating world of magnets! This term we will discover the magic of magnetic forces in our everday lives. We will learn about the magnetic force around our planet, around electricity and how all this combines to make some very useful inventions!

Let battle commence! Join us for the final term to fight for victory by designing,and making robots to solve challenges. We will be drawing upon some inspiration from the natural world and learning about robots in the real world to influence our designs and also the programmed behaviour.
